Three Lutes - late July to August 2010

Lutes: The summer of 2010 was a busy summer from late July to August 2010. This was a joint project between M'Lord Kasper and M'Lady Christiana. The three different lutes shown here show the rosettes of which M'Lord Kasper had carved from boxwood, while M'Lady Christiana manufacture the sound boxes, fret boards, and rough cut the necks for the lutes. M'Lord Kasper, prepared the lutes, with final shaping of the necks, installation of the fret wire, and tuned the lute action. The materials used to create these lutes - sides are made of tulip wood, the bottom and top of spruce, the neck of tulip wood, the fret board except the bottom photo are black walnut, the bottom one is maple. Bridges are commercial bought, strings are nylon however the nuts are bone. Tuners are purchase. All three were added with a center taffeta board made of yellow cedar, and M'Lords Kasper and M'Lady Esther's Lute have the added feature of an electric amp pickup. The bottom photo is strictly acrostic.
